500 Santas

I mailed out Christmas cards this morning. I put up a few decorations. Little by little, I'm getting ready for Christmas.

Something that really put me in the mood was 500 SANTAS, an event today sponsored by the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights, IL.

Although my fingers were freezing in the icy cold and the snow was falling, I did take a video, which I'd like to share. If you aren't already, this may put you in the Christmas mood. You don't have to watch all the Santas unless you feel like it, but you'll get the idea.

After checking out the video, please come back and comment. Are you thinking of Christmas yet? How far have you gotten? Do you have a tree up yet? I don't. Have you bought any presents? I've got a few so far, but still have pretty many left. Fortunately, my family is doing the grab bag thing, so that will make it easier. Do you do grab bags?

  1. Video made me tired watching them! brrr..
No, I am not finished, no where near it. I am a total scrooge and am not into Christmas gift giving this year. Sigh, but we have to do it, right?

  3. Grab bags are a wonderful invention. I don't know who thought them up. You don't have to shop for as many presents. Every once in a while, though, I do get in the mood for a shopping binge, but the crowds and lack of time kind of curb that urge.

I'm doing more online shopping these days, plus gifts at places other than stores. I found a nice sweater today for my friend at the Buddy Foundation, a dog adoption shelter we were visiting. No, we didn't bring home another dog, but we were mighty tempted to give Rascal a playmate.

  4. Thanks for sharing. Looks like it was a bit treacherous out there.

As for Christmas, that's a year-round event in our home. We try to keep that spirit with us at all times. Most of our trees are up. I think the house will have 10 this year and the outside will have 7. You can't have too many trees. LOL!

I've done some shopping, but am terribly behind. We gave up the name exchange this year because most of our kids are grown. Instead we'll focus on buying just for our immediate families so that we can all conserve some cash.

We're still doing the annual cookie bake, which my daughters 7 and 5 love. Then all the families will get together after Christmas for a buffet dinner.

Now if we could just borrow some of that snow, everything will be perfect!

  5. I've had Christmas on my mind since mid-August when I started on this embroidery kick I've been on for almost four months now. That, plus last night my daughter and two little grandchildren and I went over to Penn State University to view the "Festival of Trees" at the Ag Arena there. I posted about it, along with several photos of the many trees on display there. A really great, very inexpensive bit of entertainment that even the kids enjoyed!

  6. What a hoot. Only group of joggers that stayed warm, I bet.

Yup thinking of Christmas—started my list yesterday. Hope to get the tree up today—maybe. Don’t have any presents bought yet. May do gift cards—college kids like money better than anything, right? We don’t do grab bags but I tried to get away from doing stocking gifts one year and our kids threw a fit.

  7. I like to give gift cards, but this year I'll be extra careful. They say many people don't use their gift cards right away. Many places are going out of business, so the person with the gift card will end up with nothing.

  8. That's quite a video, Morgan. Tall Santas, short Santas, mostly thin Santas and beardless Santas. What fun for the spectators if they could stay warm. That definitely put me in the mood for Christmas.

  9. Believe me, the spectators were not warm. My hands were freezing as I took the video!
