Probably my favorite was Bouchercon. Other author friends were going. I roomed with Barbara Burnett Smith, who was great fun. Jan Grape, who knows everybody in the business, took me under her wing and made sure I knew where to go and what to do. She even took me with her to a publisher's party. In the mornings, I had coffee with Jan, Barbara, Susan Rogers Cooper, and others. It was the first Bouchercon I went to and I learned that while the workshops were great, it's the people there who are the most important.
What a great slideshow! The conference looks like such fun and what wonderful authors! I have never been to one (they have nothing like this anywhere around here, that I know of) but would love love love to!
I've been to the Florida Writers Association's annual conference several times. I love it - the air is charged with creativity. I learn, I meet all sorts of talented people and I return home imspired.
