I think someone said 7-8 hours is a good amount of sleep to get. If not, all kinds of bad stuff is predicted, such as higher blood pressure, not thinking right, not remembering.
I'm lucky if I get 6 hours of sleep. I can't seem to manage to get more. If I go to bed earlier, I don't fall asleep. If I fall asleep on the couch ahead of time, I can't sleep. It seems the best solution is to stay up until I'm good and tired and then I can sleep.
Unfortunately, that's not the recommended allowance. What about you? How much sleep do you get? Do you think you need more?
The studies keep changing! Recently I've heard if you get enough to feel refreshed and function prperly, even if it's only six hours, then that's good enough.
ReplyDeleteI get between six and seven a night. Eight on Friday nights, but that's as long as I can possibly sleep.
I get a minimum of 7. And usually feel refreshed.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you - I can't fall asleep earlier than my norm and if I turn out my light, I just lay there. A lot of times I simply give up, turn my light back on and read awhile longer. The plus side is that I get a lot of great books read!
ReplyDeleteI sleep for 7 hours normally but I'm in constant need for a nap, not sure why.

Hey Morgan!
ReplyDeleteI get what I get. Sometimes its 8 hours, but I went several years where I didn't sleep more than 6 hours a night. It wasn't because of a schedule or work pressure - that's all the sleepy I was.
I probably get 7 hours of sleep, but not necessarily at the time I'd prefer. I'm a night person. My DH is a morning person. I've rearranged my schedule so I get up early.

I don't have a bit of trouble going to sleep--but have to get up about every two hours to traipse to the john--most of the time I can go right back to sleep--but can seldom stay in bed past 5:30 or 6.

I seem to require less sleep as I grow older. Used to be that I required at least 8 hours of sleep but now I usually only get 6. On rare occasions it's 7 hours. I find I have more to do than time to do it all and I don't want to sleep it away. :)

7 - 8 seems the perfect amount for me, however with 2 young kids, I have yet to get a complete night's sleep without being woken up at least once in the past nearly 8 years. If I can get in 7 hours, I feel lucky. I am one that falls asleep on the couch, in the kids' beds putting them to sleep, etc. It's a bit sad, the fact that I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, lol.
