What do you wear at home?

I have separate clothes for work or going out than I do for at home. Even though we're allowed to wear jeans at work, still when I get home I usually change into more comfortable clothes as soon as I can. I like to wear my old cotton blend stretchy kind of pants and one or another of my not so great looking, yet comfy tops, along with my slippers. I hardly ever go barefoot. For one thing, with my crummy flat feet, the foot doctor says that's one of the worst things I could do. I also have some fleece vests and fleece jackets for the really cold, windy days when I'm sitting at the keyboard at home and it gets drafty inside.

What about you? Do you have separate clothes for in public and at home, or do you dress the same?

  1. Well, since you asked... Jammy pants! At home, I love to stay in my jammy pants and an over-sized T. Yes, slippers too!

For me, it takes a pretty special occasion to get more dressed up than the 'good' jeans.

  2. Definitely different clothes at home-- sweats in the winter. Sweat shorts and t-shirts when it's hot. And I where slippers-- seems like whenever I go barefoot I alway bang my toes against things. Such a klutz.

  3. Used to wander around the house 24/7 in pjs. Then I discovered I felt better if I actually put on 'real' clothes just for me. Not because I had to, but because I wanted to.

Now I get to wander around the house feeling all pretty. And don't feel embarrassed if a delivery guy knocks on the door and I'm in pjs at 4 in the afternoon.

  4. At home, I live in sweat pants and either a t-shirt or sweatshirt. And I prefer to go barefoot, although in the winter I'm forced to wear slipper socks.

  5. I work full time so I have work clothes and home clothes. As soon as I get home for the day, I change into my home clothes which are generally sweatpants & a t-shirt with slippers. If the woodstove isn't going, I generally wear a sweatshirt too.

  6. I work at home. I don't dare wear what I wear at home to go out since all I wear here is my robe (with something under it of course). I'm barefoot because I despise socks (the same goes for short sleeve shirts, t-shirts and especially athletic shoes). I don't wear jeans because that is what everyone wears and I prefer to be 'different'. I only wear dress type black pants.

  7. I wear sweat pants and either a T-shirt or sweatshirt depending on the temperature. I don't wear socks or slippers or anything. They bug my feet. I also admit I don't wear a bra unless I have to. I wear jeans when I go out.

  8. On weekends, I wear pajamas around the house. Weekdays--jeans, shirt, and socks.

  9. I stay in my nightie, robe and slippers as long as possible. When I finally HAVE to get dressed, it's jeans, T's and a sweater with tennis - all covered liberally in dog hair.

  10. I live in Florida so it's capri's, a t-shirt and flip flops year round at home or out. I do, however, save my nicer clothes or wear long pants to my book signings.

  11. This post reminds me that I used to have the largest wardrobe in the house and now I have the smallest.

I'm usually in jeans when I'm home, and I rarely go out except to run errands or to take the kids to one of their numerous activities, so I pretty much dress casually all week.

The only exception is Sunday morning when I dress up for church. It is so funny because we have a little country church and most of the people wear casual clothes. One of the members told me last week that I always dress so nicely and that he wondered if I would ever dress down to church one day. I guess I feel the need to dress up so that I can remember what it's like in the real world.

  12. When I visited my friend in California, I noticed she wore beautiful caftans most of the time. I commented on how attractive they were, and she sent me five of them not long ago. I spend most of my time, letting it all hang out, beneath colorful silkiness (probably polyester *lol*) but I feel better than when I'm in pjs. I spent so many years working, and now in my retirement, I enjoy dressing down. :) Of course on days that I work at the computer...I put on a bra. Gravity, and all, you know. *rofl*

  13. I was hoping to see someone reply: As little as possible, but perhaps my neighbors are not reading your blog...LOL
I can't have a productive day if I stay in the same clothes I sleep in, but I do have my favorite sweat pants and either a T-shirt or another long sleeve shirt that I use only to hang around the house. As for slippers....I prefer bare feet, although being cold, I wear warm fuzzy socks. In the summer bare feet, or flip flops, Tees and shorts or capri pants.

  14. Stretch jeans and Sports Illustrated sweatshirt. That's my writing attire! Oh, and along with socks and house slippers. I'm a sight!

  15. Wish I could say that I wear something scandalous, but alas, that is not the truth! Instead, it is plain 'ole (very) comfortable jeans and a knit top of some sort. The sweaters are coming out, but it is still too warm to wear them. Wear slippers around the house all day unless, of course, I am going out.

  16. Working from home in Florida - shorts, tanks, no shoes.

Rarely go out of the house until I 'get dressed' for real.

  17. Much the same thing, unless I'm going somewhere "dress-up". Today I have olive-green "converts" that button up from long pants to become half-masters, and my Jack Russell: Dog Detective tee-shirt. I'm going out shortly, and will add a pair of socks and walking shoes. Yesterday I went to Devonport (our nearest city) and wore the same tee-shirt design (I have multiples) and a khaki skirt with a lot of pockets and buckles (obtained from the local Vinnie's for $4.00). If it gets colder, I put on a pullover. If it gets hotter, I put on shorts or a lighter skirt.

  18. My at home clothes are basically sweats and comfy tops. Stuff that keeps me warm at the keyboard. I have a large denim wardrobe that takes care of most outside stuff, with a few nice things in a spare closet in case I have to do "dress-up-- author" kinds of stuff.

  19. II have something like eight pair of matching sweats, which is what i wear at home in the winter here, across from the south shore of Lake Superior. Why so many? In 2001I had cancer and had to travel back and forth 120 miles all fall and into the winter for radiation following chemo. I was always cold, so kept buying these sweat outfits from Wamart. By 2010 I'll be a 9 year cancer survivor and wearing the sweat outfits reminds me of how lucky I am. There a blizzard outside my writing room window right now, but I'm nice and cozy in the green sweats today. Jane

  20. Hi
In the summer I would like to wear as little as possible but given my aging figure I settle for loose cotton pants and a loose T-shirt. For winter, warm pants and a fleecy top.

    Cheers

  21. I get dressed first thing every morning, that way I'm ready for anything and feel like I am also ready to work--which means writing.

I have casual clothes but no sweats, things like corduroy slacks, long sleeved sweaters. When I'm going to do something special, I have dressier clothes.

  22. I definitely do! I love to hang around the house in old comfy sweat pants and sweatshirts and track suits!

Even though I work from home, I try to maintain a tidy appearance. Never work in PJs, always brush the teeth/hair, etc. I look nicer when I go out, of course (put on makup), but I don't wear sweatshirts unless it's so cold that I have to layer it over 2 thermals and a nice sweater.
