After I read and comment on a blog, once in a while, if the post below it catches my eye, I'll read it and place a comment below, though it's not the current blog of the day.
I wonder how many blog readers check the post below the current one. Do you comment on that post or maybe another further down? By the way, if you haven't checked the post below today's, please do so. It features Friday's guest, Louise Lewis,
Also, when I'm at my own blogspot, I look down the page and check for new comments to prior posts, especially ones that are dear to my heart.
What about you? Do you only pay attention to the top blog when you read or blog? Please share.
I usually read more than one. Sometimes there is nothing I can add to the top one, but one further down might catch my eye or appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteif i'm doing a quick catch up I scan top posts, if I have time to kill I will visit the blogs that interest me most and read more thoroughly.
ReplyDeleteMy blog is not web based like blogger or wordpress. It's website software. The great thing about iWeb is that when I upload changes to my website it checks for new comments and puts a blue dot next to the blog as well as every post that has a new comment. The blue dot next to the blog section won't disappear until I've reviewed all new comments. I love this feature! Sometimes I get comments on posts that are over a year old!!
ReplyDeleteBtw have you visited me yet?
Sometimes I go on down the page, if the top post interests me. I also like to look at the stuff people put in their sidebars and that can get me looking at older posts as well.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on time and whether the next title of a post catches my interest.
ReplyDeleteGood thing about Blogger is that it notifies me each time someone comments on my blog, so I don't miss any (say, overnight while I'm asleep). And I keep Google Alerts on my name and name of my blog so I know if I'm mentioned on other blogs - so I can go there.
When I have the time, I'll read and sometimes comment on older blogs and I've run across some pretty interesting stuff in the process.

I usually read more than one, time allowing of course. Sometimes I come back and comment later and thats because I typically find more time to do it when Im at work! :)

Sometimes I have to play catch up so sneaking a peep at past posts is a definite!
ReplyDeleteI usually only look at the top blog, but I often scan down to one or two more, especially if the first one was really interesting and I know I haven't already read the previous few entries.
ReplyDeleteI do know of folks who have read back into my blog, years even, because they are interested in submitting to my publisher and want to know what my experiences with them have been and what the publishing process is like with them.
I wish more people DID scroll down and read the recent posts if they haven't been to MY blog in a while. Sometimes the post of the day is not as rich as the one just below or below that one. Knowing this, when I visit a blog for the first time or for the first time in a long while, if it's good, I will search down a bit and see if the overall posting is of the same high quality. If it is, I will follow that blog. If REALLY impressed, I'll add it to my blogroll.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone reads below this post, they'll see the comments to all her commenters which guest, Louise Lewis, added this afternoon.

First off, I use blogger/blogspot and whenever anyone comments on my blog, I receive a notification in my e-mail about the comment being made. I "follow" or have all the blogs I read on my reader and it shows me whenever anyone has a new post so I don't rely -actually as I've mentioned previously -I don't like receiving e-mails from bloggers announcing to me that they've just done a new post. It's a royal pita trying to keep up with my e-mail as it is somedays and for my money, much, much easier to have my blogroll, my faves, ALL listed on my Reader which tells me in turn, whenever any given blogger has a new post. So much easier to deal with in all respects.
ReplyDeleteI may not comment on every post, every day, via my reader and those on my blogrolls, but I do read all posts done by each blogger and then, if something stands out to me, that I'm interested in, maybe have a tad of knowledge about this or that or that I just find amusing and have an anecdote to add to the mix, I will comment then.
Here's the proof I do read earlier blogs, Morgan, since this is the earlier one for me! As other people said, sometimes the earlier ones are even richer than the current one, and I might make an interesting discovery. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI actually read and comment in posts in the blog that interest me the most, whether they are the current days or for a few days prior. I try to keep up with the blogs I subscribe to on a daily basis, but sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day!
ReplyDeleteI usually read the top post and then scan the titles for anything else that catches my eye. If I have something to say, I leave a comment.

I try and read all the parts of blogs checking them out every day there is always something to catch your eye. My blog being mainly about my book does not exactly get many readers but if I keep going long enough I hope a few might arrive and follow.
