My Personal Best

Well, Tuesday night I scored my personal best. How was that?

I fell asleep on the couch during the Jay Leno show. The next thing I knew, it was after 4am, the longest amount of time I've ever dozed off while watching TV.

The funny thing was the DH had to leave for work early on Wednesday and his alarm went off a minute after I woke up. Good timing, though I really didn't plan it that way.

Anyway, I stumbled to bed and kind of fell asleep, I think. Sometimes it's hard to tell, but since the time went by pretty fast, I must have slept, at least a little.

What about you? What's your personal best?

  1. I continually fall asleep watching TV but then I am not exactly watching because of my eye problems — just looking now and then to keep in touch with the scene. Remarkable isn't it that we dose off but think we are awake. What happened? I ask. "Huh! You were asleep after the first few minutes!
But then I used to fall asleep in the cinema — that was years ago. The only movies I see now (or don't!) are on the TV. Unfortunately, I sometimes go to sleep when my hubby reads to me (he reads every day). That to me is the acid test of a good book. I never drop off if the book is a page turner. I usually do brief reviews of the books we share on my wordpress blog. I can't expect my hubby to read romance so they are mostly thrillers, detective and such. Though he is not adverse to a bit of 'spice' in the pages.

I live in a house with several young men that I mentor. The are youthful and nighthawks. Me - I'm a lights out by 11pm max kinda guy. Once in a while they guys convince me to stay up late and watch a movie with them. More often than not, I wind up missing the end of it because I've fallen asleep.

  3. Sometimes I can fall asleep in front of the TV on the weekends when football is on and I'm in my recliner. I can sleep for maybe an hour. But, for the most part, I can't sleep with the TV on. I have to have quiet.

  4. I have this horrible habit of falling asleep on Wednesday nights while I'm watching Ghost Hunters. This Wednesday past I fell asleep at 9:35 and didn't wake up until 1:20 A.M. The worst part about it was that I fell asleep sitting upright and my neck was killing me when I woke up.

  6. I fall asleep in front of the TV when I'm so tired I really should be in bed already. I think my record was a couple of years ago, there was this three episode special show thing. One show every week. Watched the first two faithfully, come time for the third, I was out within the first 5 minutes. I didn't wake up till the next morning.

My TV has like this auto-off feature. If you haven't done anything after a certain amount of time it'll pop up with a message saying it's going to shut off in five minutes if you don't push a button. So I woke up totally confused. The sun was coming up, the TV was off. It was funny.

  7. I don't watch a lot of t.v. - other than what the kids are watching. I always read as soon as the kids are in bed asleep and always fall asleep on the couch reading. I get soooo mad at myself, but I am good at it, lol. Usually I wake up after an hour or two and then head to bed.

  8. I've only fallen asleep in front of the TV a few times when I haven't slept well the night before, and have awakened with a stiff neck. We read at night more than watch TV, so it's not a big problem.

  9. Yeah, I've been known to nod off when i read books.. but tv no. Sadly, I'm hooked and MUST watch it until I get the willpower to turn it off. LOL! Probably why we don't our TV hooked up. We only use it for movies. THOSE END! LOL! Jenni

  10. I rarely watch tv. But I like to have my music at night although I'm getting used to not having it (the other half prefers quiet). I aim for midnight for bed otherwise I get up way too early. I am usually up by five. But last night I was out at ten and didn't get up until five, a record for me.
