Tell Me Your Secret - Cold Remedies

Since my cold is very much on my mind the last few days, I was wondering what other people use for cold remedies. I don't like to take much medication, but last night I did break down and take the generic for Robitusson DH after speaking with the pharmacist to make sure it would go all right with my blood pressure and thyroid meds.

What do the rest of you take when you have a cold, or do you just tough it out?
Just wondered.

I eat one (min) tablespoon of locally harvested honey daily. It is a natural antibiotic. You build up immunities, allergies are often mistaken for the common cold.

  2. This time it's a virus. The whole office has it. Also people I know on the Internet. Maybe the whole world! We're sunk.

  3. I try my hardest to tough it out. If it's heavy congestion or really stuffy nose, I use the all natural Olba's inhaler to clear out my airways. It's such a clean feeling after you use it. Hope you feel better soon. Viruses are no fun. :(

  4. Jenny Beans,
I never heard of the Olba's inhaler. I'll have to check it out.
Right now I'm doing better, but that's because I've been up for a while. The test will be when I try to go to sleep. Not looking forward to that coughing bit.

  5. I'm here from LASR.

I take lots of hot, steamy showers for my breathing and gargle with warm salty water if my throat is sore.

  6. Thanks for the tip, Deidre.
The steam may work. My throat's better now, thank goodness. Just coughing and blowing my nose a lot.
    Yuck.

  7. At the first sign of a sniffle I reach for the Vitamin C,2,000 mgs, am and pm to prevent colds. As a smoker I take 1,000 daily because smoking uses up your vitamin C. Haven't had a cold in years and then it was a mild one.
